Barnes & Noble Booksellers

Description: NOW OPEN

CORTE MADERA, CA – Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS) has signed a lease agreement to move its existing store, located at Marin Central Plaza in Larkspur, to Town Center Corte Madera, it was announced by Stan Hoffman, General Manager of Town Center. The new store will be located at the Marshall’s site, across from West Elm, and will have 27,000 square feet of books, music, DVDs, magazines and newspapers from around the world, in addition to a café with Wi-Fi Service. The store is scheduled to open in October 2006 at which time Barnes & Noble will close its Larkspur store.

"The one request we repeatedly get from our customers is for the addition of a bookstore at the Center," said Hoffman. "Barnes & Noble has been serving the community for almost 15 years, so it was a natural move for them to make. In addition, it gives our customers music and movies, something that is currently not available at Town Center. Barnes & Noble is probably best known for its books, but the music, DVDs and café provide value-added elements to the total experience."

"We have been in the Marin area for 14 years and are pleased to be able to offer an even greater Barnes & Noble experience to our area customers by moving to Town Center Corte Madera," said David Deason, Barnes & Noble Vice President, Development. "Our new store will have an expanded selection of books, an extensive music/DVD department and a wonderful café."

Some of the attractions that the new store will feature include:

*Barnes & Noble Membership Program, which gives members an additional 10% off virtually every item in the stores and online.

*Rapid special-order service for titles that are not on the shelf, enabling booksellers to order and confirm the availability of titles at the click of a button.

*Children’s Department with books in an easy-to-browse environment, designed to appeal to children, parents, teachers and librarians. Children’s story hours will be held three times a week.

*Advanced technology music-listening system features RedDotNet, enabling customers to listen to any CD in the store, sampling up to 200,000 music titles simply by passing it under a scanner.

*Giant Newsstand with over 2,000 titles, including hundreds of hard-to-find specialty magazines, out-of-town and even foreign newspapers.

*Wi-Fi Service, provided by SBC Freedom Link, allows customers to use their laptop computers and personal digital assistants anywhere in the store or café to communicate on line, surf the Internet and connect to corporate networks at speeds 50 to 100 times as fast as dial-up.
